Wareable Tech Awards 2017

November 9 @ 6:30 pm

Event Navigation

Back by near hysterical demand, the Wareable Tech Awards are returning to London and well, the internet this November.

The Wareable Tech Awards 2017 in association with Currys PC World are here to shine a spotlight on the best in wearable and connected self tech, the innovators and products that matter. And if you were paying close attention last year, you’ll know that nothing is a shoo-in.

We’re teaming up for the second time with our esteemed sponsor Currys PC World to honour the winners and nominees on Thursday 9 November.

We’ll announce the Awards – 15 in total this year – online and live at the historic Shoreditch Town Hall, just round the corner from our London HQ.

Lucy Hedges, Metro’s Tech editor, TV darling and all-round fave, is back for round two on presenting duties and we have another killer panel of expert guest judges.

The categories

The 15 Wareable Tech Awards categories (in no particular order) are:

  • Fitness tracker of the year
  • Smartwatch of the year
  • Sports watch of the year
  • Speciality sports wearable of the year
  • Hybrid watch of the year
  • Hearable of the year
  • Fashion tech of the year
  • Health and wellbeing tech of the year
  • Fitness platform of the year
  • VR/AR innovation of the year
  • VR/AR experience of the year
  • Smart home tech of the year
  • Startup of the year
  • Saves the day project of the year
  • Wearable of the year

The shortlists

The Wareable Tech Awards 2017 shortlists are now live. We’ll also be adding wildcard entries for the very latest tech that we’ll be busy testing between now and November. Our Awards, our rules.

The big Wearable of the year award will take into account not only the nominees in the other Awards categories but also connected self kit, which doesn’t fit neatly into our categories, perhaps because it’s out on its own.

The criteria for most of the shortlists (apart from Saves the day and Startup) is that the device, collection, experience or project launched between October 2016 and October 2017 and that we’ve tested it in-house. So if your device fits that criteria then don’t fret, it will be considered for the longlists.

The judges

Our editors in London and San Francisco are calling on a panel of rigorous and ruthless expert guest judges to help decide the final Award winners:
